And admittedly, actor Anil Kapoor doesn’t like the feeling. So he’s converting his bungalow into an eight-storey building Bada hai toh behtar hai seems to be Anil Kapoor’s mantra these days. The actor, a Juhu (Mumbai) resident, is keen on tearing down his current residence, a bungalow, to make way for a taller building.
Says a source close to AK, “When Anil moved into Shringar 25 years ago, it was a building with three levels and he owned the entire first level.
Later on, he bought the entire building. He then proceeded to demolish the structure to build a spacious bungalow, with a small garden and car parking. It was a childhood dream of his to own a bungalow.”
That was then. Now, the actor believes that his children need more space. Moreover, with skyscrapers eclipsing the grandeur of his bungalow — one of the last surviving ones in the area — he feels “claustrophobic” and intends to convert his residence into an eight-storey building.
Says Anil, “With so many tall buildings around my house today, I feel like a pygmy! All these buildings are towering above my house. Earlier, I could look down on other bungalows, but now I feel like everyone is looking into mine! That makes me very uncomfortable.”
